Master Your Card Launches Financial Education Videos for Young Adults
WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) September 28, 2016 -- Master Your Card (MYC), a community empowerment program sponsored by Mastercard®, today launched a series of four financial education videos for young adults. The videos, which cover credit and credit scores, fraud protection and prepaid cards, are part of MYC’s financial education outreach designed to help young adults understand and take control of their finances.
“As they take greater responsibility for their finances, young adults often confront complex issues like fraud protection and credit scores for the very first time,” said Ravi Aurora, executive director of Community Relations at Mastercard. “Our goal is to help young adults understand these issues and empower them to use electronic payment technology to their advantage. As a result, they will enter and navigate the modern financial world with confidence.”
Through its youth financial education outreach, MYC provides young adults with the information they need to navigate today’s digital economy. Notably, according to a study by PricewaterhouseCoopers, when tested on financial concepts, only 24 percent of millennials demonstrated basic financial knowledge.
“These videos hold tremendous potential to reach the young digital generation with important information about personal finance and electronic payment technology,” said Clayola Brown, president of the A. Philip Randolph Institute and member of MYC’s African-American Advisory Board. “Engaging with young people about their financial future is a crucial, but often challenging feat. These videos start a conversation that helps provide young adults with the information that they need to succeed.”
The youth financial education videos are available on the MYC YouTube channel. Additional resources for young adults are available at http://www.masteryourcardusa.org/youth.
