Holland & Hart Partner Bryan Benard was among four individuals awarded the President’s Award for Excellence by the Salt Lake Chamber, Utah’s largest and longest-serving statewide business association. The award is presented annually at the Salt Lake Chamber’s Annual Meeting to honor those in the community who show exemplary support by committing their time and abilities to help further the Chamber’s mission and bolster the business community. Bryan and the other recipients (Randy Shumway, Jeffrey Nelson, and Vance Checketts) are receiving the award in recognition of their efforts on a working group representing business owners and employers related to Utah legislation intended to ban non-compete restrictions with former employees. Their efforts in part preserved an employer’s ability to use such restrictions.

“Congratulations to Bryan on receiving this deserving recognition from the Salt Lake Chamber. Bryan is one of the premier employment lawyers in Utah, and this award recognizes his efforts to protect everyone doing business in our state. The firm is extremely proud of his client service commitment, community involvement, and business development endeavors recognized by this award,” said Eric Maxfield, administrative partner of the firm’s Salt Lake City office.

Benard is the firm-wide practice group leader for Holland & Hart’s 40-lawyer labor and employment practice group. He is an experienced labor and employment attorney who represents clients in wrongful termination, harassment, and discrimination claims, counsels clients on all aspects of employment law, and in particular has extensive background in both disability accommodations and medical leaves. His employment litigation experience includes successes with jury trials and significant wage and hour class actions in both Utah and California.

Benard will receive the award at the Salt Lake Chamber’s 129th Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon on September 27. For more details, please see Salt Lake Chamber’s website.
