New Business, Caring Transitions Northwest Chicago Suburbs, Aims to Relieve the Stress of Senior Moves, Downsizing and Estate Clearing
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 28, 2016 -- After Mary Beth Radeck helped her mom downsize and then undertook her own major clearing project, she realized she had a passion and untapped talent for helping people understand the difference between preserving memories and parting with possessions that are holding them back. Now she’s looking forward to using that talent in her new business – Caring Transitions Chicago Northwest Suburbs.

I’m excited to help people in my community close a chapter of their lives so they can transition to their next chapter more easily,” Radeck said.

Radeck, who was born in Elmhurst and grew up in Wood Dale, has lived in and around her Caring Transitions service area for most of her life. She decided to launch Caring Transitions Chicago Northwest Suburbs with the support of her husband Gerry McAvoy after more than 30 years as a project management professional in the Chicago area.
“Caring Transitions enables me to truly serve as a ‘transition advocate’, looking after things so you can focus on what matters--time with family,” Radeck said. “When I cleared my mom’s estate, the effort it required was staggering. Honestly, the best gift you can give yourself is to bring in Caring Transitions and spend that time with your loved ones instead.”
In addition to her personal experience, Radeck is looking forward to using the skills she honed in project management to serve her Caring Transitions clients. In fact, in addition to her certification as a Relocation and Transitions Specialist, she earned her Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification in 2012. She also pursued a degree in Sustainability Studies at Roosevelt University and was enlisted to speak publicly in Schaumburg about sustainable practices for homeowners. Eventually she wrote Roosevelt’s Sustainability web site and co-authored the University’s Strategic Sustainability Plan.
“My mom inspired me to start a new career and open Caring Transitions. She helped me learn what it’s like to age and, because I helped her downsize and be in the best situation possible, she made those last years of her life the best they could be. I want to leave a lasting impact on this community by helping other families and seniors do the same,” Radeck said.
While continuing her studies and building the business, Radeck has been an active volunteer at Roosevelt University, both with their sustainability studies program and their community garden, as well as with Exodus World Service, where she helps build welcome packs for refugees in need.
