Tulsans Bringing A New Musical to the Broadway Stage This Spring: "Come From Away" Will Open in March in New York
Tulsa, Oklahoma (PRWEB) October 01, 2016 -- Tulsa, Oklahoma – September 26, 2016 – Jay Krottinger and Ryan Jude Tanner of Square 1 Theatrics, co-producers of Waitress currently on Broadway, and the Tony Award® winning revival of Pippin, are part of the producing team that will bring Come From Away to the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Broadway.
Come From Away is a breathtaking new musical that has played record-breaking engagements in La Jolla and Seattle, currently playing in Washington, D.C. and will open in Toronto in November. This stunning production from Tony-nominated director Christopher Ashley (Memphis) has been called “an affecting and stirring new musical” by the Los Angeles Times. Based on the events following 9/11, this story is centered around the 38 planes with 6,579 passengers that were stranded in a remote town in Newfoundland where locals opened their hearts and homes. This international community of strangers spurred unexpected camaraderie under extraordinary circumstances.
A Tulsa-based international production company founded by Jay Krottinger and Ryan Jude Tanner in 2012, Square 1 Theatrics recently produced Memphis The Musical, in London’s West End, which won two Olivier Awards for Best Sound Design and Best Theatre Choreographer.
Both Tanner and Krottinger are actively involved in the community, serving on several non-profit boards. In addition to producing theatrical performances, Tanner and Krottinger manage IQ Surgical, a biotech firm based in Tulsa, OK.
