New Webinar from GE Healthcare Explores Innovations in Optimized Tools for High-confidence Gene Engineering
Yorba Linda, Ca (PRWEB) October 07, 2016 -- For nearly three decades, scientist have explored untouched avenues to better understand DNA and gene function. The rapidly expanding utility of CRISPR-Cas9 has led to a wide range of technology formats for use in both gene knock-out and precision knock-in genome engineering experiments. The speed of advancement has led to a significant knowledge gap for newcomers to the fields, a hurdle to overcome in determining the proper reagents for performing experiments.
The team at GE Healthcare has developed a platform which significantly simplifies the workflow of permanently editing genes. The DharmaconTM Edit-R TM CRISPR-Cas9 platform includes predesigned, ready-to-use DNA and RNA components and has applications to many new fields of life sciences, from studying gene functions in cells and animals to research on potential gene therapy development.
In GE Healthcare’s free, educational webinar, “CRISPR-Cas9: From reagent selection to experimental optimization,” participants can expect to learn and discuss the criteria for selection of CRISPR-Cas9 components, the importance of guide RNA rational design for functional and specific knock-out, and how to optimize delivery of CRISPR-Cas9 components. Continuing education credits will be offered to participants through the PACE system.
The speaker for this webinar will be the product manager of GE’s Dharmacon division, James Goldmeyer PhD.
Goldmeyer received both his master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Connecticut and for the past seven years, has been responsible for the development and launch of various genome-wide shRNA and gene-overexpression product lines at Dharmacon. Goldmeyer is also responsible for the Dharmacon Gene Engineering portfolio and works with teams of experts in researching and developing breakthroughs in gene modulation and engineering. The webinar presentation will be followed by a live Q&A with Goldmeyer.
The free webinar, hosted by LabRoots, will be presented on October 27, 2016, at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET. For full details about the event, continuing education credits, and free registration, click here.
