This release heavily focuses on the Media Streaming Server, improving the ease of use, configuration, and performance of broadcasting simultaneous live streams to multiple clients

LEAD Technologies is pleased to announce an update to its LEADTOOLS Version 19 Multimedia SDKs. The LEADTOOLS Media Streaming Server received an influx of new methods and properties for managing multiple live streams. Several transforms within the LEADTOOLS Media Foundation toolkit were also improved for better playback of third-party streams and improved compatibility within Windows 10.
"We have received much positive feedback since the release of the Media Streaming Server earlier this year," said Moe Daher, Chairman and CEO of LEAD Technologies. "Customers love the functionality and are looking for new ways to easily set up servers that deliver streaming content to web and mobile device clients. This release heavily focuses on the Media Streaming Server, improving the ease of use, configuration, and performance of broadcasting simultaneous live streams to multiple clients."
Programmatic Creation of RTSP, ONVIF, and UDP Live Stream
Many live-stream capture devices require user interaction through the device's property pages. LEADTOOLS now includes methods and properties for bypassing the manufacturer's dialog, so developers can directly configure several popular streaming protocols/specifications, including RTSP, ONVIF, and UDP.
Control H.264 Hardware Decoding
Computers with built-in hardware acceleration are a huge speed boost to any application, but can still cause bottlenecks in high-demand streaming situations. When serving content to multiple clients is the priority, LEADTOOLS can now disable hardware decoding of H.264 video and direct all hardware-accelerated resources towards H.264 encoding, resulting in faster delivery of video streams to clients.
Enhanced Control and Configuration for Live Streams
A new interface was developed for querying the current state and encoding type for each live stream. Administrators can also use this to enable and disable live streams, even within multiple server configurations, to customize load balancing. Similarly, a new "Active on Demand" feature was added which allows streams to be activated only when requested by a client, rather than being set active the when the server starts. This helps simplify servers with multiple live streams as well as conserve machine resources.
Media Foundation Updates
Several transforms and core playback libraries within the Media Foundation toolkit were updated to allow playback from third-party streaming sources. In particular, streams generated from VLC can now be played and paused using the Media Foundation RTSP Media Source. Color conversion support was broadened to enable the playback and processing of a wider variety of videos in Windows 10.
