Greenberg Traurig’s Jonathan Beckham Discusses Autonomous Cars at MarketplaceLIVE 2016

Beckham, of counsel in the Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. offices of Greenberg Traurig, LLP, participated in a discussion at MarketplaceLIVE 2016, on Sept. 22 at Spring Studios in New York City. The tech-focused event, hosted by international data center provider Digital Realty, and themed “Learning from Unexpected Places,” brought together approximately 1,000 technology professionals and industry leaders.
Beckham led a session titled “Look, No Hands!: Lawyers take the Brakes off of Self-Driving Cars.” He was joined by Allison Cohen, Managing Counsel for Toyota Motor Corp., and Darius Withers, Senior Legal Counsel to Accenture LLP. The speakers considered unique issues relating to the emergence of connected cars and autonomous vehicles, including data privacy, cybersecurity, emerging data sharing norms, changing risk allocations for insurers, IT vendors, and OEM manufacturers, and the role of Federal, state and municipal governments in the development and functionality of the infrastructure for connected and autonomous vehicles.
