Avant-Garde Trio Sandro, John Malkovich and Eric Alexandrakis Release New Vinyl-only EP "Illuminated"
(PRWEB) October 05, 2016 -- The U.S. version of Illuminated is a limited edition picture-disc, vinyl-only release slated for release on October 7. Illuminated marks the third musical release in a series of ongoing collaborations between photographer/director Sandro, actor/director John Malkovich, and producer/composer Eric Alexandrakis.
Hot off of the heels of their critically acclaimed first release Like A Puppet Show, which has been described as "...an excercise of musical intelligentsia, a blend of philosophy and electronica that aims to be more than novelty" [Spectrum Culture], Illuminated is the third vinyl only release of the trio’s musical collaborations, which once again builds upon Malkovich’s recitation of Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave”. Visually sparked by yet another of many Sandro/Malkovich photo collaborations, once Malkovich’s vocal part was completed, the group began reaching out to a variety of hand-picked artists to lend their creative touch to the project. Currently almost 20 additional musical collaborations exist, and are planned for release.
Featured artists on the new EP include Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, Dweezil Zappa, and Sameer Gadhia of Young The Giant. Exclusive to this release are more of Sandro’s dazzling photographs of John Malkovich [now also available in his new book The Malkovich Sessions], and an exclusive mix of the score from the film version of the project called Hell [a film by Sandro, starring John, and scored by Eric which premiered at the Los Angeles Downtown Independent last month].
Other recent happenings include the release of Psychogenic Fugue, also a film by Sandro, starring John and scored by Eric, which benefits the David Lynch Foundation. The film can be viewed at PlayingLynch.com, and will be screened on 10/8 at David Lynch’s Festival of Disruption in Los Angeles.
The vinyl only release of Illuminated will be out on the trio’s Cryogenia π label on October 7, available for purchase everywhere, and on their website LikeAPuppetShow.com. The occasion will be marked with a signing event for Illuminated and The Malkovich Sessions [Glitterati] at Ron Robinson in Santa Monica, CA at 1:00PM and lasting until 3:00PM.
