NuCurrent Appoints New Vice President of Engineering
CHICAGO (PRWEB) October 06, 2016 -- NuCurrent, the world leader in wireless power solutions featuring thin, high quality (Q) factor, printed wireless power transfer antennas and integrated electronics, announces the appointment of Bob Giometti as vice president of engineering. With over 30 years of experience in engineering, including leading teams that delivered such products as the award-winning original Motorola RAZR, Giometti will be responsible for NuCurrent’s senior engineering and product leadership.
“Bob is a proven engineering leader with a deep background in product, engineering management and high volume manufacturing for yield, quality, performance and cost,” said Jacob Babcock, CEO, NuCurrent. “From the prestigious halls of Motorola during the RAZR days to the cutting edge of technology development for RF antennas at SkyCross, Bob has a phenomenal foundation to support NuCurrent's rapidly-growing engineering and production activities.”
Prior to joining NuCurrent, Giometti served as senior vice president of engineering at Dynamics Inc., where he established the core engineering team and led the team in the design and development of powered payment cards. Prior to Dynamics, he served as vice president of R&D and engineering at SkyCross, where he was responsible for leading research, design and development of advanced multi-band antenna systems for the mobile phone, wireless networking and M2M markets. Prior to SkyCross, Giometti served as senior director of engineering for Motorola Mobile Devices, where he led a team that implemented technical solutions for complex Android-based 4G, LTE, WCDMA and 3G/UMTS products. He also oversaw the electrical development and product integration of the original Motorola RAZR, and worked previously as engineering section manager for Motorola’s Cellular Infrastructure Division.
“I have been aware of NuCurrent for a couple years and have been following the wireless power industry closely. Once I was able to learn about NuCurrent's core technology, IP, engineering talent and approach to the industry, I knew it was the organization for me,” said Giometti. “Wireless power is the next wireless frontier and NuCurrent is in position to be the go-to provider of electronic solutions. I'm thrilled about what the future holds for this team and our customers.”
Giometti’s hiring follows numerous NuCurrent appointments of experienced alumni of Motorola, Blackberry, Intel, Analog Devices and Freescale Semiconductor, including VP of Business Development Michael Gotlieb and Director of Product Engineering Glenn Riese. Because of NuCurrent’s team of industry veterans and its wireless power technology, the company has developed a portfolio of over 50 patents granted or pending worldwide, leading to NuCurrent being named No. 1 on 2015 Crain’s Chicago Business Eureka Index with the highest per-capita patent output of any company in Illinois. The company was also listed in the top 10 percent overall in patent quality score, which considers the uniqueness of the invention covered by a patent and other important factors. NuCurrent was also named winner of the 2015 Chicago Innovation Up-and-Comer Awards and a finalist for two 2016 ITA CityLIGHTS Awards
