SAE International to Honor Caterpillar VP Ramin Younessi with Sid Olsen Engineering Executive of the Year Award
WARRENDALE, Pa. (PRWEB) October 04, 2016 -- SAE International announces that Ramin Younessi, Vice President, Industrial Power Systems with Caterpillar and President of Perkins Engine Company, is winner of the Sid Olsen Engineering Executive of the Year Award.
Younessi will receive the award at the SAE 2016 Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress, which will be held Oct. 4-6 in Rosemont, Ill.
The Sid Olsen Award recognizes an outstanding engineering executive in the off-highway industry. Candidates are nominated by their employees, colleagues, supervisors, or the local SAE International Section, with the nomination supported by another individual from the same group (e.g. employees, colleagues, supervisor or SAE International Chapter). The award honors Sid A. Olsen, an SAE International Fellow and industry leader who actively supported and participated in leading industry activities. As part of the award, $500 was donated to two colleges of Younessi’s choice: Illinois Central College and University of Texas (Austin) Cockrell School of Engineering.

He brings more than 29 years of progressive global business leadership in the industrial, commercial vehicle and engine industry in the United States, Europe, Asia, Mexico, Australia and South America. Younessi most recently spent six years as a group vice president, product development with Navistar Inc., where he was responsible for all global vehicle and powertrain engineering functions, including advanced engineering, purchasing, product planning and quality. Prior to joining Navistar in 2007, he held a number of senior leadership and executive positions in the United States and Germany with the commercial vehicle division of Daimler AG.
Younessi has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and master's degrees in engineering from Syracuse University and engineering management from the University of Maryland. He is a registered professional engineer in Illinois and Maryland. He serves on the Madison Dearborn Partners’ Basic Industries Roundtable. He is a member of SAE International and American Trucking Association.
