ALS is No Obstacle for Participation in this Saturday’s Brooklyn Rock ‘N’ Roll Half-Marathon
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) October 05, 2016 -- “Team Quest4ALS,” will take part in the Brooklyn Rock ‘n’ Roll half-marathon this Saturday, 8 October. Team Quest4ALS is a new Augie’s Quest endurance event program that works with people of all athletic abilities to train for and complete a half-marathon for their first time or their fastest time while committing to a fundraising minimum to benefit amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research.
This year, Team Quest4ALS have partnered with health and fitness clubs throughout the country, from local clubs in New York, up to New Hampshire and as far as Colorado. Five patients with ALS will be attending the event. Eric Craven, will cheer on his wife, Claire, and his three children, Elizabeth, Amanda and David and Michael (Boomer) Wallace will watch on as his friends Bobbie, Tim and Richard race in his honor. Three others living with ALS – Matt Bellina of Holland, PA, Ellen Corindia of Marlborough, NH and Frank Mongiello of Yardley, PA – will be pushed in the race, alongside almost 160 others who will push themselves to complete the half-marathon this Saturday in Brooklyn. Collectively, they have already raised over $375,000 and hope to reach over $400,000 by race day.
Funds raised will go towards Augie’s Quest, an aggressive, cure-driven effort focused on finding treatments and cures for ALS. Founder of Augie’s Quest, Augie Nieto says “I’m so thankful for the clubs and individuals that are supporting our inaugural campaign. Before I was diagnosed with ALS, I ran 21 marathons, and it’s so gratifying knowing so many people are supporting our Quest to Cure ALS by fundraising and running. I’m excited that Matt, Frank and Ellen are not letting ALS stop them from participating in the race.” Augie’s son, Austin Nieto will run in his honor on Saturday.
The race will begin on October 8 at 7.00AM. All donations can be made through here.
