Austin, Texas (PRWEB) October 06, 2016
For nurses working with acute or critically ill patients who have complex and life-threatening illnesses and injuries, timely and effective training is imperative. As the science and technology of medicine rapidly changes, critical-care nurses must continually expand their knowledge, skills, and expertise to optimize patient care and outcomes.
The American Association of Critical-Care nurses (AACN) chose Enspire, a leader in innovative e-learning, games, and simulations, to design and develop a highly interactive update of their online flagship program, Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO).
Enspire and AACN organized a collaborative team of more than 90 nurses, nurse educators, online education specialists, writers, media designers, and technologists to create the program including shooting photography and video on location at a live simulation lab for the patient care scenarios and vignettes. The team was recently recognized for their efforts with two Brandon Hall Group Silver Awards for Excellence: Best Advanced Custom Content and Best Learning Team.
The resulting 58 hours of online education is used by more than 1,100 hospitals in the United States and Canada as an integral part of their critical care orientation.
The award-winning program facilitates knowledge transfer to the bedside and includes:
- Realistic interactive patient scenarios
- Contextual lessons and activities in patient care
- Abundant practice in critical thinking and decision making
- Extensive medical illustrations, infographics, and simulated diagnostic tools and medical equipment
But this isn’t the first time Enspire (a powerhouse custom development studio in Austin, Texas) and AACN (the largest specialty nursing organization in the world) have joined forces to create excellent e-learning. Previously, the tightly integrated client/vendor team was recognized for excellence with a Brandon Hall Gold and a Horizon Interactive Award for the 3.5-hour online program, Promoting Excellence in Palliative and End-of-Life Care.
As technology, medicine, and brain sciences continue to evolve and develop, it will be exciting to see what these talented groups take on next.
