Summit Racing now carries U.S. Gear Ring and Pinion Gear Sets. U.S. Gear gear sets are manufactured from domestically-sourced materials on state of the art CNC machines and gear-cutting equipment, then heat-treated in computer controller furnaces--performance enthusiasts can’t buy a better gear set.
Standard Gear Sets
These are the ones for street machines and classic trucks. They’re made from OEM-quality 8620 steel for durability and are designed for quiet operation. Gear sets are available in a wide variety of ratios for GM 12-bolt; Ford 8, 8.8 and 9 inch; and Chrysler 8.75 inch axles.
Pro Series Gear Sets
These are the gears for bracket racers, sportsman circle track, and off-roading. They’re made from high nickel 9310 steel to handle the stress and shock of racing. There is a choice of ratios for GM 12-bolt; Ford 9, 9.5, and 10 inch; Chrysler 8.75; and Dana 60 axles.
Lightning Series Gear Sets
The Lightning Series ring and pinion gear sets are U.S. Gear’s top of the line. They undergo a Isotropic Super Finishing (ISF) surface treatment—the same treatment used on gears in NASCAR and IndyCar. ISF significantly reduces friction and wear for longer gear life, lower operating temperatures, and greatly reduced vibration and noise. The treatment improves oil retention, offers better resistance to corrosion and pitting, and even improves resistance to gear contact and bending fatigue.
Lightning Series gear sets need no break-in—they’re ready to run right out of the box. Gears are available for GM 12-bolt: Ford 8, 8.8, 9, 9.5 and 10 inch: Chrysler 8.75; and Dana 60 axles.
