IT Partners Drive the Cause to Elevate Low-Income Youth
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) October 11, 2016 -- Practically every day, Silent IT’s mission is to connect the dots for Fortune 500 companies feeling challenged by technology and drive their business forward. Yet on a recent Sunday in the northern suburbs of Chicago, the company had a very different kind of mission: Hit the golf course in support of an organization that’s empowering low-income high school youth to be the first among their families to attend college.
During the Annual Think IT Charity Golf Invitational at Highland Park’s Exmoor Country Club, Silent IT teamed up with other local IT leaders to back the continual efforts of Genesys Works, a non-profit that aims to provide the best technical skills training, career coaching and internships to youth facing difficult economic and social situations. As a result of Genesys Works’ efforts, students who feel challenged and disadvantaged often can ultimately become invaluable assets of the workforce.
“Not everybody starts out at the same level in life but everybody nonetheless deserves an opportunity to further their education, including reaching the college level,” says Silent IT’s Josh Davidson. “We’ve believed in that at Silent IT even before we identified a best partner to help us give back to the community. Genesys Works was a natural fit.”
In total, this year’s event raised over $20,000 for Genesys Works to support the Chicago youth community. As a highlight, an alumna of Genesys Works spoke at length about her story to remind sponsors and donors of the impact of the program.
