Haag-Streit UK launch the new Eidon AF wide-field confocal scanner in the UK
Harlow, Essex (PRWEB UK) 7 October 2016 -- Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK), the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard optometry and ophthalmic equipment, is pleased to announce the launch of the new Eidon AF true colour wide-field confocal scanner.
The Eidon AF includes all the existing capabilities of the popular CenterVue Eidon, including the unsurpassed wide-field image quality, but now has the added autofluorescence functionality.
Fundus Autofluorescence (FAF) imaging is a non-invasive technique which provides information on retinal metabolism and health through showing changes in the integrity of the Retinal Pigment Epithelial (RPE) layer. FAF imaging may help to understand metabolic alterations of the RPE in the pathogenesis of several retinal disorders.
The Eidon AF with autofluorescence capability can now obtain multiple types of high-value information from a variety of imaging modalities; white illumination is able to provide high-quality, true colour imaging; red-free is useful to enhance the detail of retinal vasculature and the retinal nerve fibre layer; infrared light provides information which corresponds to the choroid and autofluorescence allows the assessment of the RPE layer.
The mosaic function allows the Eidon AF to capture images up to 150°, providing a panoramic view of the retinal autofluorescence. A 60° image can be captured with just a single flash of light, offering high fidelity without image averaging and improving patient comfort.
