Fighting Genetic Cancer Through Education and Support
SACRAMENTO (PRWEB) October 10, 2016 -- Sometimes you contract diseases through the environment, but sometimes your genes predetermine your future.
In “Life in Asymmetry,” author Raychel Kubby Adler educates women on the steps they can take to prevent or overcome breast cancer, especially if they have rare genetic mutations. Kubby Adler uses personal experiences, scientific research and genetic science to show what happens when your genes make you highly susceptible to breast cancer and other diseases.
“While 12 percent of women in the general population will have breast cancer in their lifetime, women like me with the BRCA mutation have a 45 to 87 percent likelihood of developing it before the age of 70,” Kubby Adler said.
Kubby Adler is the holder of the BRCA2 gene mutation, “previvor” of cancer and spends much of her professional and personal life researching health risks and educating the population about them.
“I wrote this book so that others, especially my daughters, could live in a world where there are better options for people with this genetic mutation,” Kubby Adler said. “I wrote it so that others would not feel so alone and because I truly believe knowledge is power.”
