Brian Harvey Wins 2016 Eversource Hartford Marathon, Elizabeth Ryan Takes Women’s Marathon Race
Hartford, Connecticut (PRWEB) October 11, 2016 -- On Saturday, October 8th, in the Hartford Marathon Foundation’s 23rd running of the Eversource Hartford Marathon, Brian Harvey of Boston won with a time of 2:17:56. A Boston Athletic Association runner, Harvey was one to watch in his first appearance at the event. He was profiled in the New England Finest elite program and participated in the 2016 US Olympic trials alongside Eversource Hartford Marathon second place finisher Matt Pelletier of Oneca, CT. With a time of 2:19:36, Pelletier placed second in the event for the second straight year. Pelletier won the 2014 marathon in Hartford. Coming in third with a time of 2:24:00 was Scott Leslie of Rutland, MA.
A former Farmington High School (CT) runner, Elizabeth Ryan won the women’s race of the marathon, coming in at 2:45:59. Amanda Marino of Bradley Beach, NJ, took second place in the women’s race with a time of 2:46:22. Leah Frost of Glover, VT, took third place in 2:46:57. Ryan and Frost were both awarded bonus money for their participation in the New England’s Finest elite program.

With a time of 1:05:31, Antonio Wilson, of Everett, MA, by way of Brazil, won the Eversource Hartford Half Marathon. New England Finest Elite athlete John Raneri, of New Fairfield, CT, came in second place in the 13.1 mile race with a time of 1:05:34. With a time of 1:06:46, Jonny Wilson, of Flagstaff, AZ, came in third place.
Grace Kahura, of Katonah, NY, by way of Kenya, won the women’s field of the half marathon with a time of 1:14:26. 2012 Hartford Marathon champion Hilary Dionne, of Charlestown, MA, came in second place with a time of 1:15:54. Coming in third place with a time of 1:15:59 was Kate Pallardy, of New York, NY. Dionne and Pallardy are both members of the 2016 New England’s Finest field.
Setting a course record in the 5K race was Dan Vassallo of Peabody, MA, winning with a time of 14:53. Coming in second place with a time of 14:57 was John Busque of Manchester, CT. With a time of 15:28, Bronson Venable, of Wyoming, RI, took third place.
In the women’s 5K race, Sara Buckley, of Albany, NY, won with a time of 18:06. Masters runner Renee Tolan, of Clifton Park, NY, came in second place with a time of 18:13. Avon, CT, runner Molly Hamel came in third place in 18:46.
