Mediware and Save the Cord Foundation sponsor exclusive event on groundbreaking cord blood treatments for chronic spinal cord injury at AABB 2016
Lenexa, KS (PRWEB) October 13, 2016 -- On October 24 at the 2016 AABB Annual Meeting, Dr. Wise Young will present “Cord Blood Therapies as Potential Treatments for People with Chronic Spinal Cord Injury.” Dr. Young, the founding director of the W.M. Keck Center for Collaborative Neuroscience and a distinguished professor, is recognized as one of the world’s outstanding neuroscientists whose innovative research upended the notion that spinal cord injuries were permanent. In recent years, Dr. Young has focused his efforts on using cord blood, opening a 25-center clinical trial network in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, where human clinical trials with umbilical cord blood mononuclear cells and lithium are underway. In the initial results from the phase II trial in Kunming, China, 75% of the participants (15 out of 20) recovered walking with a rolling walker. Phase IIB trials started in 2015, and phase III trials are getting underway this year.
Dr. Young’s session is part of the popular “Share the Science” series sponsored by Mediware Information Systems, Inc. and Save the Cord Foundation.
