The goal of Verizon & Intel Network Builders Innovation Challenge is to stimulate innovation in SDN and NFV solutions, built on solutions that contain Intel ingredient technologies that enhance the customer experience on Verizon’s network. All finalists are members of the Intel Network Builders program.
Brain4Net became a finalist in “Low-latency in a virtualized network infrastructure” category of the Contest with comprehensive SDN/NFV based solution that achieves low-latency in virtual networks through:
1) Well-designed architecture to build resilient and fault-tolerant network fabrics based on OpenFlow and bare-metal hardware that allows CSP to extend Metro Networks to Telco DC, forming the unified SDN-based transport from Customer UNIs to VMs located in Datacenter.
Brain4Net proposed B4N Service Platform as management & orchestration system for Metro Network, Data Center Network Fabric (including virtual switches) and VNF & End-to-End Service lifecycle management. The Platform creates a resilient and fault-tolerant Unified SDN Fabric comprised of physical network elements [e.g. bare-metal switches in Metro Access/Aggregation Network and DC network fabric] and virtual switches in OpenStack environment. This approach enables CSPs to build service-oriented network architecture that provides assured Customer traffic delivery from Access network to NFV environment and tightly integrate Metro-services with value added VNFs.
2) OpenStack improvements to achieve carrier-grade networking:
- Multi-platform OpenFlow-agent (e.g. OF-Agent for bare-metal switches or vSwitch for x86) to reduce virtual network latency of OpenStack networking and enable OpenFlow on bare-metal switches to provide network services built for CSPs.
- Networking enhancements for OpenStack introduced by Brain4Net.
Each component of B4N Service Platform including B4N Orchestrator, B4N Controller, VNF Manager and B4N SwitchOS meets Verizon Reference Architecture.
"We are proud to be shortlisted among Verizon and Network Builders Innovation Challenge finalists and move SDN and NFV innovation forward by leveraging an initiative of recognized technology leaders,” said Oleg Schapov, CEO and Founder of Brain4Net, Inc. "Our solution allows CSPs to significantly decrease virtual network latency through utilizing B4N Service Platform technology advantages and Intel enhancements for virtualized environments. We look forward to final solution implementation stage at Verizon Network Visionaries Lab and its demonstration to esteemed judges».
The grand prize winners of each category will be announced at the Intel Network Builders Summit in conjunction with Carrier Network Virtualization in Palo Alto, CA, December 5. Grand prize winners will be awarded $25,000 in market development funds to apply to their co-marketing plans with Intel.
