Jesus Christ Reacts to Donald Trump in New Animated Film
Brooklyn, New York (PRWEB) October 13, 2016 -- One month prior to the presidential election, the award-winning animation and documentary production house, ANIMADOCS, has announced the worldwide release of The Trump & Jesus Show. The animated short film draws a direct contrast between the personalities of Donald Trump and Jesus Christ. Independently funded by 99 backers on the popular crowdfunding site Indiegogo, the two minute film is now available on YouTube.
The film is directed by Maria Stanisheva and Todd Leatherman. Todd is a documentary director and cinematographer who has shot multiple projects for HBO and Netflix, with his previous work appearing at Sundance, Hot Docs and various other film festivals. Maria is an animation and documentary filmmaker, as well as the founder of ANIMADOCS. Her previous work has earned over 30 awards from festivals around the globe and her most recent animation campaign for Human Rights Watch was seen by 6 million people within the first week of its release. The remaining production team is rounded out by a talented group of Emmy and Grammy-nominated artists.
When asked about his initial motivation for the project, Todd said, “As someone who was raised in the Church and is familiar with the teachings of Jesus Christ, I found it deeply offensive how Mr. Trump could pander to Christian voters while at the same time use such disrespectful language against immigrants, minorities and women. Jesus would never speak like Mr. Trump does, so we thought people should be reminded of that contrast.” According to Maria, whose background is in Political Science and Human Rights, “As filmmakers we are trying to shed light on a juxtaposition which may help Christian voters consider the morality of supporting Mr. Trump.“
The film depicts three mildly comedic scenarios where Donald Trump and Jesus Christ meet face-to-face, yet it is clearly designed to inspire more introspection than laughter.
