IonField Releases Two New Products
(PRWEB) October 17, 2016 -- IonField Systems completed their Phase II NIH Small Business Innovation Research grant awarded from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), National Institutes of Health (NIH) titled Automated Instrument to Clean Microtiter Plates. The two new products developed with NCATS support shipped during the 3rd Quarter of 2016.
The first is the PlasmaKnife System - an automated instrument that cleans microplates by rinsing then plasma treating the well surfaces to remove all traces of the prior assay. The PlasmaKnife can be run manually but is more often integrated using our standard network interface to either a pick and place robot or a robotic work cell. Most microplates can be recycled through the PlasmaKnife process 50 to 100 times before disposal.
The second is the1536 TipCharger for Pin Tools - a modular, SBS format compliant instrument that cleans pins with one or two quick solvent dips followed by plasma treatment. Cycle time from the first dip to clean, dry pins is under a minute. The 1536 TipCharger leaves virtually no carryover, improves throughput and reduces solvent usage. A similar product for 384 format pin tools is available.
Paul Hensley, IonField CEO, commented, "Market response to these new products is strong because they fill a genuine need of our customers. Biological assays rarely damage a microplate. The key threshold for reuse is the totally effective removal of the prior assay material. IonField's patented Atmospheric Pressure Plasma process is the only proven effective technology to do just that. IonField wants to thank NCATS for their support to transition our plasma technology to this new application."
These products and the rest of IonField’s family of TipCharger Systems are available for purchase directly from IonField in North America or through our distributors in the EU, Japan, and China. The PlasmaKnife Service Center is currently available only for customers in the US.
