Paws for Freedom is an organization that trains service dogs primarily, but not exclusively, for people who use wheelchairs. These dogs are taught to retrieve dropped items, open and close doors, turn lights on and off, and alert their handler in certain situations. It takes approximately two to three years for these dogs to gain this sort of training, education, and social ability.
Beginning at eight weeks of age, Paws for Freedom dogs start to learn basic obedience and social skills, including outings to public places. Matty, a cute, adorable Chocolate Labrador puppy was named by the Lynxspring employees and will spend, at least two years “going to school” in the START Club Program, while at the same time receiving advanced training and extensive socialization from trained people at Paws for Freedom.
