ATAGO continues to advance essential quality control technology with its new product line, called the RePo. “RePo” stands for “Refracto-Polarimeter,” a reference to its status as a combination refractometer/polarimeter. Because of its simple operation and ability to quickly measure Brix and optical rotation of samples, it has become the newest staple in the sugar industry.
Polarimeters are used to determine the quality of sugar throughout its refining processes, from freshly-squeezed sugarcane juice to refined white sugar. They do so by projecting polarized light through the sample substance. The RePo-1 Package A (http://www.atago-usa.com/New-Products/RePo-1-Type-A-Recommended-for-sugar-industry-p676.html) is the perfect complement to the SAC-i benchtop polarimeter/saccharimeter (http://www.atago-usa.com/Polarimeters/SAC-i-p577.html), and includes beakers, syringes, and two types of filters to ensure accurate readings when testing in the field. Thanks to ATAGO’s vast knowledge of real-world samples and applications, the RePo series has been expanded to include uses for high-fructose corn syrup, invert sugar, honey, and chemicals.
A compact design and capability to be powered by AAA batteries allows the RePo series to be used in laboratory settings as well as out “in the field.” Its International Protection rating of IP67 protects the instrument from moisture and dust ingress, meaning that despite its small size, the RePo is a robust instrument that can stand up to the demands of the field and production floor.
