Stoplight, the company that provides a powerful API modeling environment and a frictionless way for teams to accelerate their API strategy, has just released a Hosted API Playground & Spec Driven Contract Testing for API developers across the globe. These features, both market firsts, have large implications for developers both producing and consuming APIs. Leading companies that have already adopted Stoplight include SendGrid, TMDb, Chargify, and Rovi (Tivo).

According to Mulesoft, 86% of developers are under “moderate to extreme” pressure to deliver services faster than they did last year. With new features like Contract Testing, developers can be sure that their API contract - their single point of truth - is always in sync with their API, increasing their efficiency and allowing them to ship production-ready APIs in a fraction of the time. In fact, companies already using Stoplight have reported 10x time-saving in their API development process.

“Our API documentation is better than ever and we have StopLight to thank for it.” said Travis Bell, Founder @ https://www.themoviedb.org, “They've somehow managed to distill a very technical product into a simple, easy to use and beautiful tool.”

But developers don’t just produce APIs, they consume them as well, working with third-party APIs to establish integrations, product improvements, etc. Traditionally, there are barriers limiting efficiency, such as the need to sign up for an account, get API keys, and write code. Stoplight hopes to tear down these barriers with their Hosted API Playground.

“As API developers ourselves, it’s frustrating when using a company’s API documentation takes just as long as actually implementing the API” says StopLight founder Marc MacLeod. “Now, with our Hosted API Playground, you can literally play with and use an API in less than 30 seconds, without needing to figure out keys and authentication up front.”

The Stoplight platform delivers a unique, tightly integrated end-to-end approach with its API lifecycle platform. With this v2 release, Stoplight is expanding its coverage of the API lifecycle - here’s are some of the feature highlights in v2:

Powerful Contract Testing - Helps you enforce your API designs by applying OAS (Swagger) specifications against your APIs, in the form of tests.
Improved Modeling Tools - Added RAML 1.0 support.
All-New Hosted Documentation Tool - Including a First-Ever API Playground.
Stoplight API Exposed - Helps you automate your api strategy.

StopLight provides a web app, as well ask native desktop apps. Get more information and download the app @ https://stoplight.io. Individual developers can use the core platform for free, and team pricing starts at $6 a month/member.
