U.S. Patent No. 6,630,507, which is held by the federal government, covers potential use of the non-psychoactive cannabinoids (like CBD) to protect the brain from degenerative diseases and other damage. This leads some to believe that although federal legislature claims otherwise, federal government agencies may recognize some form of healing properties or potential within cannabis compounds.
