Renowned Rijksmuseum Scholar Dr. Reinier Baarsen Will Headline Winterthur's 53rd Annual Delaware Antiques Show, November 11--13, 2016
Wilmington, Delaware (PRWEB) October 27, 2016 -- Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library is pleased to announce Dr. Reinier Baarsen, renowned Senior Curator of Furniture at the acclaimed Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, is Keynote Speaker and Co-Chair of the 53rd Annual Delaware Antiques Show, November 11--13, 2016, at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware. Celebrated as one of the most highly acclaimed antiques shows in the nation, this three-day event features the finest offerings from more than 60 distinguished dealers representing the best of American antiques and decorative arts.

In 2015, the Rijksmuseum was chosen for the prestigious European Museum of the Year Award by the European Museum Forum. The EMF describes the Rijksmuseum as "a great museum, at the height of its powers, providing a rich experience to the public." Founded in 1800, the Rijksmuseum closed for a complete overhaul in recent years and reopened in 2013 to international praise.
Dr. Baarsen will share his insights on European decorative arts, history, and more during his Keynote Lecture "Amsterdam Splendor: European Decorative Arts in the New Rijksmuseum," Friday, November 11, at 10:00 am.
Dr. Baarsen is the author of the scholarly and eminently readable "Paris, 1650--1900: Decorative Arts in the Rijksmuseum."
The 53rd Annual Delaware Antiques Show's Opening Night Party will be Thursday, November 10, 5:00 -- 9:00 pm, at the Chase Center. The show is open Friday, November 11, 11:00 am -- 8:00 pm, with Dr. Baarsen's Keynote Lecture at 10:00 am (included with admission); Saturday, November 12, 11:00 am -- 6:00 pm; and Sunday, November 13, 11:00 am -- 5:00 pm. Additional show Co-Chairs are Delaware Governor Jack Markell and First Lady Carla Markell, and Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Deputy Chief Curator Margaret Beck Pritchard.
