New Children’s Book Provides Look Into Bullying Through Child’s Eyes
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (PRWEB) October 25, 2016 -- When Jacqueline Watkins' son, Trelin, came home from school and told her that he was being bullied, she immediately jumped into action to defend him. She met with Trelin’s advisor, seeking the school assurance that they would provide a safe and protective environment for not only her son, but the entire student body. Her fight against bullying didn’t stop there though. Inspired by her son’s experience, Watkins' and her son penned children’s book “Bobby’s Bully.”
“Bobby’s Bully” is a look at harassment through a child’s perspective. Bobby finds himself on the receiving end of taunts and teases from the school bully, Tully, who makes school life difficult for Bobby and his friends. Readers will follow Bobby as he learns to deal with his bully and eventually build an unexpected friendship with his tormentor.
“When my son experienced bullying he came to me knowing that I would be there to support him. Together we were able to make a difference in his school life,” Watkins said. “My hope with Bobby’s Bully is to encourage parents and children to work together like my son and I did to overcome bullying. We want to teach kids to be brave enough to speak up about bullying when it happens, and we as parents have a responsibility to listen to children when they report these kinds of instances.”
