1-800-PetMeds Cares’™ Third Annual National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week Contest to Grant $1,000 for Pet Rescue
Pompano Beach, Fla. (PRWEB) November 01, 2016 -- 1-800-PetMeds®, America’s Largest Pet Pharmacy®, is recognizing National Animal Shelter and Rescue Appreciation Week with the 1-800-PetMeds Cares™ third annual National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week Contest.
The contest will award a $1,000 grant to the winning group to aid its lifesaving work with homeless pets. The second-place group will receive $500-worth of 1-800-PetMeds’® Flea5X Plus flea preventative, and the third place group will receive $250-worth of Flea5X Plus.
The National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week Contest is open to entries now through November 9, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. ET. U.S. animal rescues and shelters that rescue cats and/or dogs and have not won a 1-800-PetMeds Cares™ contest within the last year are eligible to enter.
To enter, a group representative must visit the contest entry page at http://www.petmeds.org/shelter-appreciation-week-contest-2016/ and fill out the entry form. The representative will share what makes the group unique, along with what the group does to help animals in its community, and will include a photo illustrating the response.
Once the entry period has ended, the contest will be open to voting from November 10, 2016, at 12 a.m. ET to November 20, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. ET. All U.S. residents 18 (or age of majority in state of residence) and older may vote once per 24 hours. At the end of the voting period, the three groups with the most votes will be named winners.
National Animal Shelter and Rescue Appreciation Week takes place each year throughout the first full week of November to encourage people to become better acquainted with their local rescue groups. The 1-800-PetMeds Cares™ National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week Contest started in 2014. Past years’ winners include Indianapolis Animal Care & Control in 2014 and Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso Rescue of Texas in 2015.
“Animal shelters and rescues focus on saving as many pets as possible, often with few resources,” said Erin Gleeson, outreach specialist at 1-800-PetMeds®. “We’re proud to continue this contest for the third year to offer support to hard-working animal rescue groups, and we hope it can inspire people to take a more active role saving lives with their local rescue groups.”
The National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week Contest is run through 1-800-PetMeds Cares™, a charitable offshoot of 1-800-PetMeds® which organizes product donations to animal shelters and rescues across the U.S. and runs several annual contests, including the Change a Pet’s Life Contest, to assist animal shelters and rescues.
