TrueLine Publishing CEO, Haj Carr, to Speak at Folio: Show 2016
Portland, Maine (PRWEB) October 26, 2016 -- Haj Carr, founder and CEO of a successful publishing and marketing company, TrueLine Publishing, will host a forum called “Hiring/Retaining Media-Company Talent” at the Folio: Show on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 2:05 p.m. at the Marriot Marquis in New York City.
The Folio: Show, an annual conference for magazine media professionals, will broach and offer solutions to the challenges facing the magazine industry. Carr will present alongside Kira Bindrim, editor at Quartz Talent Lab, a digital business news outlet.
Carr founded TrueLine Publishing in 2010. The company, based in Portland, Maine, creates and publishes six business-to-business magazines and also provides robust custom media and marketing services. It employs more than 40 people and was recently named one of the 2016 Best Places to Work in Maine.
Carr says the success of his business often boils down to who and how he hires. “I hire people, not skill sets,” he says. “When I think of hiring, I think of what type of person I want to bring into this organization. Yes, they’re going to have to do a job, but that comes secondary.”
The question-and-answer style forum will examine how, in a growing pool of media companies, magazine media businesses can attract, hire and retain top talent.
Several of TrueLine Publishing’s magazines—Vanguard, Toggle, US Business Executive and US Builders Review—are finalists in the conference’s Eddie & Ozzie Awards which recognize excellence in design and editorial. Winners will be announced during the show at a celebratory luncheon on Monday, Oct. 31.
