“These recognitions are a tremendous honor. Since 1971, we have been proud to be a member of the greater Dayton business community." - Tim Beatty, president, Bullen Ultrasonics
Eaton, Ohio (PRWEB) October 26, 2016
Bullen Ultrasonics, a globally recognized pioneer and leader in ultrasonic machining, announced today that it won first place in the “Innovation” and “Community Involvement” categories of the 2016 Manufacturing Awards hosted by the Dayton Business Journal (DBJ). The company was awarded second place in the “Safety” category.
“These recognitions for our leadership and commitments to innovation, safety and community involvement are a tremendous honor,” said Tim Beatty, president of Bullen. “Since 1971, we have been proud to be a member of the greater Dayton business community and look forward to many, many more years of driving manufacturing excellence in the region and contributing to our community.”
The third generation of Bullen’s family-owned, privately-held business, Beatty has solidified the company’s leadership in the semiconductor, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), transportation/automotive, and medical and life sciences industries, and driven Bullen to the forefront of ceramic matrix composites (CMC) machining for the aerospace/defense industry.
Bullen’s three honors from the Dayton Business Journal’s 2016 Manufacturing Awards program are for:
- Innovation (first place): Bullen was recognized for the combination of its unique, cutting-edge ultrasonic machining methods, the company’s transition to automation in its equipment design, a company culture that promotes a continuous improvement process for employees, and its partnerships with local universities and research institutes, including University of Dayton, University of Cincinnati, Wright State University, Miami (Ohio) University, Miami Valley Career Technology Center and Sinclair Community College, among others.
- Community Involvement (first place): Bullen was recognized for its partnership with World Hope International, a Christian relief and development organization, and sponsorship of two villages in Haiti and one village in the Philippines, as well as its support of Dayton-area organizations Home is the Foundation, Youth for Christ, the Preble County Development Partnership and the Eatonic Music Festival, among others.
- Safety (second place): Bullen was recognized for its achievements of a zero percent lost time injuries rate and zero percent total case incident rate in 2016, and the company’s employee-driven safety committee that conducts quarterly safety walks and monthly safety training for all employees.
“With manufacturing on the rebound and such a strategic growth industry in our region, it is important to recognize this [manufacturing] industry in our area,” said the weekly business newspaper in a statement. It noted that manufacturing is critical to the Dayton region because it represents 100,000 jobs and accounts for tens of billions of dollars in annual sales in the 12-county region surrounding Dayton, according to a Wright State University study commissioned by the Dayton Region Manufacturers Association.
Awards were handed out at a gala held on Oct. 20 in Dayton. For more information, visit http://www.bizjournals.com/dayton/news/2016/10/21/dbj-reveals-2016-manufacturing-awards-winners.html.
