Craft & Hobby Association’s Maker Space Open for Business, Play at Creativation
Elmwood Park, New Jersey (PRWEB) October 27, 2016 -- The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) has partnered with CREATE at the Arizona Science Center to bring a powerful Maker Space to Creativation, the premier creative arts industry event. CREATE, a 6,500 square-foot community hub for turning dreams into reality, will build an area on the trade show floor where creative industry makers, DIYers, start-ups, designers, buyers, retailers, distributors, educators, demonstrators, professional bloggers and pinners can experiment with start-of-the-art, computer-controlled equipment and traditional crafting tools. Creativation will take place January 19-23, 2017 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
“The combination of CREATE’s technologies and the creative minds who attend Creativation will drive innovation in our industry in 2017 and beyond,” says Nidia Negron, Director of Education, CHA. “Our Maker Space will inspire new products, techniques and ideas that will foster new opportunities and provide value to our global creative community. It will help our attendees to understand how a maker space can enhance their businesses.”
The CREATE staff will hold a hands-on lab seminar at their facility in the Arizona Science Center on Thursday, January 19 from 2:00pm-5:00pm, where attendees will learn how to use a 3D printer. In addition, the CREATE staff will hold two free demonstrations in the Maker Space at the Phoenix Convention Center on Saturday, January 21 from 9:00am-1:00pm and Sunday, January 22 from 2:00pm-6:00pm, and an iDiscover Chat on Saturday from 1:15pm-1:45pm. In these sessions, attendees will learn what a maker space is and how it applies to their businesses, as well as construct a futuristic/post-apocalyptic-style jacket using 3D-printed objects.
In addition, 10 creative industry manufacturers will sponsor make-n-take workshops in the Maker Space throughout the weekend. Most recently added to the schedule are six workshops sponsored by Faber Castell and Spellbinders, in which attendees will learn innovative solutions for crafting with paper and home décor and how a maker space can be more than just robots and gadgets. Other participating companies are Brother International, Sizzix, Beadalon, Clover Needlecraft, Fabric Editions, Pebeo, Prym Consumer USA, and Therm-O-Web.
Attendees can also play with CREATE’s tools during the Creativation Celebration, formerly the CHA Foundation Gala, which will be held on Saturday, January 21 from 6:30pm-10:00pm at the Arizona Science Center. Tickets are available for $110 for CHA members and $140 for non-members.
