Hollywood, Calif. (PRWEB) November 01, 2016 -- Who is shooting at Humphrey Bogart in real life?
The year is 1941 and Bogart is a disgruntled mid-level movie star. He doesn't know super-stardom is right around the corner.
And some delicious dame in a full length silver lamé gown with over-the-elbows opera gloves and a nasty little pistol keeps taking potshots at him.
Who is behind this? Is it a murderous coven of Lesbian big-time film actresses, intent on keeping their potentially career-destroying secrets?
Is it rival actor George Raft’s gangster-pimp buddy, Bugsy Siegel? Perhaps it's a Nazi death squad, out to get Bogart for his stand against Hitler.
Does it have anything to do with that mysterious submarine that smashed into Bogart’s pleasure boat a few days before Pearl Harbor?
The answers to these vintage mysteries and more are found in Howard Decker’s new novel, Humphrey Bogart, Private Dick. The novel is available as an e-book, through Amazon.com and other booksellers.
Author Howard Decker brings to the pages of Humphrey Bogart, Private Dick a special knowledge of Hollywood. He has chronicled Hollywood and the stars since the late 1950s for a major Los Angeles metropolitan newspaper, a world-wide wire service and a host of magazines and other newspapers. Decker began peering into the dark side of Hollywood when he was big city newspaper reporter in Hollywood in what he calls “the tail end of the Raymond Chandler era.”
“I spent many nights roaming down what Chandler called Hollywood’s “mean streets,” says Decker. “I met world-famous gangsters, gorgeous strippers and gangster molls, iconic actors and world famous female cinematic sex symbols, as well as garden-variety murderers, con men and con women, and crooks of all sizes, shapes and colors.”
Although it is a novel, Humphrey Bogart, Private Dick rips the lid off those places where many of Hollywood’s wrenching secrets have remained hidden in an unmarked grave for seventy years and more.
There are no cuss words or graphic sex scenes in this book.
Humphrey Bogart, Private Dick is available globally as an ebook on Amazon, in bookstores and elsewhere. Available for just $4.99.
