International Training Company The Leader's Institute Releases New Programs for the Badgered Healthcare Industry
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 01, 2016 -- The Leader’s Institute ®, an international training company based in Dallas, Texas, announced the release of their subsidiary, The Leader’s Institute ® for Healthcare, on Tuesday. The new subsidiary is focused on helping healthcare client companies deal with many of the specific soft-skill challenges that are unique to the healthcare industry as a result of higher regulation, frequent mergers and acquisitions, and high cost of entry into markets.
Scott Hubbard, president of the new subsidiary, explained that “the highly regulated healthcare industry has a communication problem. Healthcare premium increases, security breaches, and gloomy financial expectations have all made news headlines recently in the industry. These unique challenges create specific hardships in the communication process both internally with healthcare colleagues and externally to customers and the public at large.”
Hubbard warns managers and leaders within healthcare that they can ignore these challenges at their own peril. However, he sees these challenges as fantastic opportunities to educate others about the industry and influence people in a positive way.
The elephant in the room for the industry is the rising premiums scheduled for 2017. The healthcare insurance industry is already under scrutiny because rising healthcare insurance cost. Many health insurance purchasers won’t experience this sticker shock until late November when many of them will realize that the plan that they currently have (and don’t really like) isn’t available anymore. So, in less than 30 days, the frustration of these healthcare insurance purchasers is going to skyrocket.
“We’ve accelerated the release of a few of our communication training programs as a result of this anticipated challenge in the marketplace for our clients,” says Hubbard. “Our industry experts have designed custom modules to help employees within the healthcare industry better communicate more effectively both internally and with the external customer.”
Another big continual challenge in the industry is the risk of security breaches. SecurityScorecard, recently released their 2016 Healthcare Industry Cybersecurity Report that unveiled cybersecurity vulnerabilities across 700 healthcare organizations. Both the Penemon Institute and Trend Micro list the healthcare industry as the sector with more breaches than any other.
Although the financial outlook for the healthcare sector is mixed, when big players have even a slight drop in stock price, it can drive the sector into a slump. Friday, McKesson announced lower than expected sales for the quarter, and the sector, as a whole, dropped a bit. On the opposite side, touting record profits to consumers in the same publications with stories about the rising cost of healthcare can also be detrimental.
Doug Staneart, CEO of The Leader’s Institute ® says, “We created The Leader’s Institute ® for Healthcare as a way to help our existing clients in the healthcare industry better deal with these new and difficult challenges in the marketplace.” He claims that by improving soft skills like communication, teamwork, and leadership with these organizations, the industry can better deal with the outside challenges like increased federal regulations and public relations nightmares that are common in the industry.
“We’ve been working with clients in the healthcare industry for almost two decades, but recent developments in the industry have caused us to have to divert more resources to the increasing challenges of our clients,” says Staneart. “The new subsidiary was a natural development of changes in the marketplace.”
The company will release the first industry specific program, How to Give an Oral Presentation to Healthcare Colleagues, on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
