San Antonio Companies take part in the Fit Company Challenge & highlight their employee wellness initiatives to the Texas business community
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) November 02, 2016 -- On October 20, 2016 companies came out to Olmos Basin Sports Complex to go through the Fit Company Challenge, a corporate wellness event hosted by the Fit Company Institute. Employees at each company formed teams to go through the 3 fitness courses at the challenge, which provided a platform to build camaraderie, teamwork, and of course healthy living. Companies competed against each other to earn the top spots at the challenge. While the competition was fierce, overall the companies enjoyed the opportunity to support their employee's wellness and get employees of all different levels and departments working out together and living healthy.
In their first time taking part in the challenge, Hill Country Memorial took the top overall spot in the Large Team division. Team captain and Employee Wellness Coordinator Leigh Dempsey was excited for the win and to come back in 2017 to defend their place. “At HCM our vision is to Empower Others and Create Healthy,” said Dempsey. “This competition gave us a fantastic venue to back up the talk, and walk the walk! We have had a long-standing employee wellness program, that promotes screenings, competitions, education, & well-being activities. The Fit Company Challenge fell right into alignment with the practice we have of engaging our work force through wellness initiatives. We had a diverse representation of our workforce represented at the challenge from physicians, L&D nurses, radiology techs, accounting, quality, case management, marketing, PT and more. One or our team members quoted “thank you for this opportunity. It gave me a great opportunity to build relationship with my team members,” which is a core competency at HCM. We loved the challenge and staff. We will be back and bigger in 2017!”
BioMedical Enterprises, Inc. took the 2nd overall spot and 1st place in the medium team division. As the team captain for BioMedical Enterprises for the second year in a row, Rico Jaeger was excited for the team to be able to show off their hard work preparing for the challenge. “The Fit Challenge is something we look forward to all year long. It gets fellow employees of all ages and size motivated to get up from their chairs putting their running shoes on and burn some calories. It is also a great team building exercise year around that culminates on challenge day. Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try!”
On event date, with the help of over 20 volunteers assisting the contenders, participants challenged their strength, conditioning, power, agility, and ended with a test of endurance in order to show their companies and colleagues that they practice what they preach. Participants used their involvement to bring out company team members, and family members to cheer them on and promote the importance of having fun and effective corporate wellness programs at their companies.
The challenge was held at Olmos Basin Sports Complex, located a short drive from downtown San Antonio.
