An Opportunity to Benefit From Its New ‘BuyForACause’ Donations-To-Charities Program

"Memorabilia collectors save 15% on every purchase and member charities receive donations of 20% of their supporters' purchases." - Ed Schauder, Steiner Sports

What does an Orthodox Jewish School for girls in East New York, a family services organization in Westchester County, NY, a mentoring program in the Bronx, an international Christian children’s foundation and an equine-related non-profit group on Long Island that uses horses as therapy for disabled children have in common?

The answer: They all have already enrolled in BuyForACause.com, a just-launched charitable endeavor created by Steiner Sports where sports and memorabilia collectors can save money on hundreds of collectible items and at the same time help charities and civic-minded groups receive free cash donations from Steiner Sports.

“A total of 19 organizations have already joined BuyForACause.com,” reports Ed Schauder, EVP of Licensing & General Counsel at Steiner Sports, one of the largest sports and entertainment memorabilia companies in the country. “We set out to develop a charitable model where we would donate money to non-profits at no cost or risk to them and, at the same time offer their supporters valuable memorabilia items at a special charity price. We see it as a win-win-win proposition.”

Here’s how the program works: The organization provides Steiner Sports with its logo which is placed on the organization's unique landing page on the BuyForACause.com website Charities Page. The organization then alerts its constituency of its new venture by posting information on its website and Facebook and LinkedIn pages; by initiating blast emails; and by sending out tweets, instagrams and other social media advisories. When the group’s followers visit the site, they click on their favorite charity’s logo and a virtual Steiner Sports memorabilia store opens featuring a wide variety of sports and entertainment collectibles that are all available for purchase. Since there is no auction involved, whatever a shopper wishes to buy becomes theirs. The price of each item on the BuyForACause.com site is 15% less than the cost of the same piece on the regular Steiner Sports website. In addition, Steiner Sports then donates 20% of every purchase to the non-profit group the purchaser supports.

Anyone can visit BuyForACause.com 24/7 to make purchases by clicking on a member charity’s logo of their choice. That will instantly get them into the virtual Steiner Sports memorabilia store. Product offerings are updated frequently and customized for each member group.

Non-profit organizations who are interested in becoming a member organization should contact Andrew at Steiner Sports at arasera@steinersports.com. Media wishing to arrange an interview or wanting to receive additional information should contact Ira H, Silverman at irahsilverman@gmail.com.
