Greek shipping magnate, Victor Restis, has announced plans to establish a permanent presence in the United States in 2017 for his shipping and equity firm.

A number of meetings and viewings of office premises on Fifth Avenue took place while in New York last week with potential partners. A decision on specific location will be made by the end of 2016, with a view to moving operations there next year.

Mr. Restis stated that “with the innovation and expansion happening in our business, the timing is right. Despite stagnation generally in the shipping sector, we are experiencing steady growth, so it makes sense to open an office in this region to support our operations in New York, Florida, and Texas.”

The Restis group of companies, owned by Victor Restis, is one of the largest in Greece and is engaged in shipping, investment, media and real estate. They recently expanded operations by opening offices in Geneva and London to support their main operation center in Athens, Greece.
