Imagination Playground Closes in on 2016 Mission Goal
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 01, 2016 -- Imagination Playground, LLC—creators of the breakthrough “Big Blue Blocks” that encourage child-directed, unstructured free play—announced today that so far this year they’ve reached 2,493,372 children with creative block play. That’s only 506,628 shy of their goal of reaching 3 million more children in 2016.
Driving their momentum is their Gift of Play program—an unprecedented offer of 20% off to schools that value the benefits of creative play, but are unable to acquire an Imagination Playground without help. Past research shows that 80% of schools that know of Imagination Playground want a set of Big Blue Blocks for their children. So in most cases, the only obstacle preventing school children from experiencing creative block play is funding. Imagination Playground President Dave Krishock says Gift of Play is succeeding because it’s tailored specifically to address this need.
“Through many years of working closely with educators, we understand. The heartfelt desire is there, but they might not have the necessary funding. So, with this gift we’re gladly helping them help their children play,” said Krishock.
Imagination Playground first offered the Gift of Play in 2015, in response to many educators who asked the company for help. Since the company relaunched the program in 2016, 340 new schools have accepted, and Imagination Playground has received many expressions of thanks from educators.
Among the grateful educators is Jenny O’Sullivan, K-5 STEAM Lab Instructor at A.D. Henderson University School in Florida. She said, “After years of thinking that Imagination Playground blocks would be a great addition to our playground, we were finally able to buy blocks thanks to a grant from our local chamber of commerce. Deb Winn, Program Coordinator at the Children's Healing Center in Michigan said Gift of Play helped bring a new add-on set to their existing Imagination Playground. “We already had an Imagination Playground and the kids just love it. We use it for science activities, obstacle courses, and building days. It’s really a favorite. We were looking at what we could do to make it a little different, and we decided we wanted the add-on Angle set. Without your gift, we probably wouldn’t have afforded to purchase it, so thank you.”
