Los Angeles, Calif. (PRWEB) November 01, 2016
The Dominguez Firm, a Los Angeles-based law firm, won a record-setting jury verdict of $29,062,351 on Oct. 26, 2016, on behalf of a 19 year-old pedestrian who sustained a head injury when he was struck by a car while in a crosswalk in 2013.
The jury award will provide the funds for the medical care and assistance Perez will need for the rest of his life. Lead plaintiff trial attorney Olivier Taillieu, from The Dominguez Firm, established the defendant’s 100% liability, despite no independent witnesses to the accident and Perez’s lack of memory about the accident and how it occurred. The only eyewitness version given to the jury was by the defendant who alleged his operation of his vehicle was negligent-free. Perez’s parents testified during the three-week trial of their deep concern for their son’s future well-being. In closing, Taillieu’s last words to the jury were, “I now leave Mr. Javier Perez in your hands.”
After one day of deliberation, the jury reached a verdict in Perez’s favor. The jury award is believed to have set a new record at the Los Angeles downtown (Stanley Mosk Courthouse: Perez v. Sunde, Case #: BC530720) for the highest award in a mild neurocognitive disorder case this year.
Perez and his parents expressed their thanks and appreciation to the court, their trial team, and to the jury for its understanding and verdict. Nationally recognized plaintiff’s attorney Juan Dominguez, head of The Dominguez Firm, states, “It was an honor to be part of this trial team of attorneys Olivier Taillieu, Maura Gewirtz, and Larry J. Litzky, as together we assisted our noble and humble client and his parents receive this much-deserved justice.”
Since 1987 The Dominguez Firm has resolved over $400 Million dollars in injury cases. It is one of the most widely recognized and successful personal injury law firms in Southern California.
