Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 03, 2016 -- The number of IT jobs gained in September is 57 percent higher than the number of jobs gained in August, according to numbers released by the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Economic Situation Report on Friday, October 7, 2016.
In September 2016, the multiple sectors that form an IT industry gained 20,400 jobs total, almost double the 13,000 jobs gained the month prior. Collectively, the sectors that form the IT industry now sit at 4,715,700 employed persons. This includes data collected from the data processing, hosting and related services subsector, the computer electronic product manufacturing subsector, the computer systems design and related services subsector, and the management and technical consulting services subsector.
The data processing, hosting and related services subsector gained 600 jobs in September, a small drop from the 900 jobs gained the month prior. The subsector, which belongs to the greater information sector, now sits at 300,000 employed persons. Over the last 12 months, the subsector has grown by only 1,300 jobs.
The computer and electronic product manufacturing subsector continued to experience job losses after 1,500 jobs were lost in September and 1,100 jobs were lost in August. The subsector has lost 14,000 jobs since September 2015, and now sits at 1,034,600 employed persons.
The computer systems design and related services subsector, a part of the professional and business services sector, dropped 15 percent from the 6,400 jobs gained in August to 5,400 jobs gained in September. Since September 2015, the subsector has gained 79,700 jobs.
The management and technical consulting services subsector gained 15,900 jobs in September, more than double the 6,800 jobs gained in August. This sector now sits at 1,365,900 employed persons, having gained 90,200 jobs since September 2015.
