Doe Run's Resource Recycling Secondary Lead Facility Earns President's Award for Commitment
BOSS, Mo. (PRWEB) November 06, 2016 -- DOE RUN’S RESOURCE RECYCLING SECONDARY LEAD FACILITY EARNS PRESIDENT’S AWARD FOR COMMITMENT
The Doe Run Company’s (Doe Run) Resource Recycling facility received the President’s Award for Commitment from SRI Quality System Registrar (SRI). The company received the award for continuously maintaining International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification for the last 20 years. The lead recycling and secondary lead production facility holds ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certifications, internationally recognized standards for continuous improvement in product quality and environmental management systems respectively.
“A company’s Quality Management System certification provides evidence to customers, suppliers, employees and its community of its commitment to producing a quality product and providing customer satisfaction,” said SRI president Christopher Lake. “The Doe Run Company and its employees at the Resource Recycling facility are among the distinguished few that have set the highest standards and excelled for more than two decades.”
SRI, the world's leading registrar to metals and materials companies, verifies that ISO standards are met through rigorous annual audits of the management systems of Doe Run facilities. SRI meets with employees and examines the company’s procedures, records of internal audits and management reviews. The process verifies the effectiveness of the Quality Management System, confirms that employees are well-trained on the operating procedures, and identifies any improvements to the system.
“Maintaining our ISO certifications ensures we meet our commitments to quality products and services,” said Bruce Chamberlain, operations manager of Doe Run’s Metals Division. “SRI has been a great partner, and the annual audit process has helped us build a culture and framework to continue to adapt and improve.”
Doe Run’s Resource Recycling facility is one of the world’s largest single-site lead recycling centers and serves secondary lead metals customers and the battery manufacturing industry. More than 300 employees recover and recycle nearly 175,000 tons of refined lead and lead alloys each year from more than 13.5 million lead-acid batteries and other lead-containing products. They operate a hammermill to break down batteries, furnaces to smelt recycled lead material, and secondary lead refining and casting facilities.
