Wagner & Winick On the Law joins Central Valley Powerhouse KERN AM 1180 and 96.1 FM
Bakersfield, CA (PRWEB) November 08, 2016 -- Wagner & Winick On the Law, a nationally syndicated talk radio program broadcast on the VoiceAmerica.com Business Channel (http://www.voiceamerica.com) is joining the scheduling lineup of KERN AM 1180 and FM 96.1. The one-hour program will broadcast from 6:00-7:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings and be available 24/7 on-demand at http://www.voiceamerica.com and http://www.wagnerandwinick.com.
Newstalk 1180 and 96.1 KERN have been the leaders in Talk programming in Bakersfield, California for over 30 years.
“Stephen Wagner and I are simply thrilled to join the highly regarded program line-up on KERN,” said co-host Mitchel Winick. “Kern County is an important listening community for us and an influential region in the central valley of California,” said Wagner. The program also features “International Crossroads”, a monthly segment on International Law that features Michael Cohen, a partner with the international law firm Sheppard Mullin.
Wagner & Winick On the Law started on KSCO AM 1080 in Santa Cruz as an on-air opportunity to provide public education on legal issues that affect our daily lives. It was a natural role for Winick, who serves as President and Dean of Monterey College of Law, and Wagner, who is a lawyer and law professor at the law school. When the law school opened San Luis Obispo College of Law in Summer 2015 as an accredited branch of MCL, the radio-duo added KVEC AM 920 in San Luis Obispo and KSMA AM 1240 in Santa Maria to their broadcast network. With the announcement of Kern County College of Law opening as the newest branch campus of MCL in Summer 2017, becoming part of the KERN AM 1180 and 96.1 FM programming was a natural fit.
“Although we initially started as a local program for the central coast of California region, it was very exciting when VoiceAmerica.com approached us last year about being syndicated nationally and internationally on their Internet radio network,” said Winick. “With that type of distribution, we make it a point to select weekly law and policy topics that have a broad appeal,” said Wagner. “It also provides our local listeners an additional way to hear our program on-demand 24/7 on their phones, tablets, or computers,” said Winick.
The co-hosts frequently invite an expert guest on-air to help discuss the specific weekly topic. Unlike other talk show programs that merely feature opinions – too often without any facts or data to back them up - Wagner and Winick make it a point to provide information about actual laws and public policies that help listeners form their own opinions about the issues.
Mitchel L. Winick is the President and Dean of the three law school system - Monterey College of Law - San Luis Obispo College of Law – Kern County College of Law. Winick’s thirty-year career has included legal education, law, and business. A former Assistant Attorney General of Texas, Winick also served as V.P. of a publicly traded company, senior partner in a management consulting firm, and co-founder of a venture capital firm.
Stephen Wagner serves as a law professor at San Luis Obispo College of Law and as a trial deputy, specializing in vehicular homicide cases, with the San Luis Obispo County DA's Office. As a law professor, Wagner teaches Criminal Law and Evidence. He is a former prosecutor with the California District Attorney’s Association and the San Benito DA’s Office.
Michael Cohen is a law professor and a partner with Sheppard Mullin's Antitrust and International Competition Practice Group. Cohen hosts the monthly “International Crossroads” segment on the program. Starting in law enforcement as an Assistant Special Prosecutor, Cohen has spent more than two decades defending multinational clients across the globe. Cohen teaches Constitutional Law and Business Organizations at Monterey College of Law.
