Over E40bn worth of transactions have been announced on the Technology and Mid-Cap Technology Deal of the Year Shortlists for the TMT Finance World 2016 Awards which will be presented in London on November 30 http://www.tmtfinance.com/world

Global giants such as SoftBank, Alibaba, Avast, Equinix and Cinven make the Technology M&A Deal of the Deal 2016 Shortlist, which features deals in ecommerce, semiconductor, security software and datacentres and hosting.

Deal volumes are at record highs in the technology sector, as vertical integration and convergence increases and companies look to consolidate or enter new markets. Advisers represented on the list include: Goldman Sachs, Lazard, UBS, Barclays, Jefferies, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, Greenhill, Oakley, JP Morgan, HSBC, Deutsche Bank and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

TMT Finance also this year announces the new Mid-Cap Technology M&A Deal of the Year Award, which recognises deals valued at under E1bn in EMEA and Asia. This shortlist also includes an exciting and diverse mixture of transactions, including gaming, communications tech, software and managed services, represented by companies such as Interoute, TPG, Apax France, Vivendi and Charterhouse.

Technology M&A Deal of the Year (excl. US)

SoftBank’s acquisition of ARM for £24.3bn
The Raine Group, Robey Warshaw and Mizuho Securities advised SoftBank; ARM was advised by Goldman Sachs, Lazard, UBS and Barclays

AVG’s sale to Avast for US$1.3bn
Jefferies advised Avast; Morgan Stanley advised AVG

Alibaba’s purchase of Lazada for US$1bn
Credit Suisse advised Alibaba; Goldman Sachs was adviser to Lazada

Equinix acquisition of Telecity £2.35bn
Telecity was advised by Goldman Sachs, Oakley Capital, Barclays and Greenhill & Co. Equinix was advised by JP Morgan

Cinven, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board purchase of Hotelbeds.com: E1.19bn
Financial advisers to CPP and Cinven were Lazard, Morgan Stanley and HSBC. TUI advised on the deal by Deutsche Bank and BofA Merrill Lynch.

Mid-Cap Technology M&A Deal of the Year (excl. US)

Charterhouse Capital Partners LLP acquisition of Sagemcom £357m from Carlyle
DC Advisory advised Charterhouse, and Sycamore Corporate Finance advised Sagemcom

Infovista acquisition by Apax France from Thomas Bravo for c. E300m
DC Advisory advised Apax, Lazard advised Thomas Bravo

Interoute's acquisition of Easynet for £402m
Barclays advised Interoute.

Transporeon acquisition by TPG from Riverside Group for c. E300m
Jeffries advised Riverside Group

Vivendi’s hostile acquisition of Gameloft (61.7%), valuing Gameloft at E700m
HSBC advised Vivendi

The winners for all categories will be selected by a Judges’ Panel comprising 15 of the most experienced and active TMT executives, bankers and advisers globally and presented at the Grange Hotel St Paul’s London on November 30, following TMT Finance World Congress 2016.
