The City of Lake Forest and Focus Development recently held the groundbreaking for Kelmscott Park, a new maintenance-free community of condominiums, single-family homes, and luxury rental apartments at Laurel and Western avenues in downtown Lake Forest. Sales for the single-family homes and condominiums began this summer.

The groundbreaking ceremony included Lake Forest Mayor Don Schoenheider and Focus Development President Tim Anderson. Also on hand were representatives from the project team which includes @properties, the exclusive sales and marketing firm for Kelmscott Park; Chicago-based Booth Hansen Architects; North Shore homebuilder Orren Pickell; Lake Bluff-based Mariani Landscape; Wintrust Bank and Associated Bank.

Located on a 10.7-acre site with more than 5 acres dedicated to open space, Kelmscott Park will feature 39 condominiums, 12 single-family homes and 111 luxury apartments. The residences will feature Arts and Crafts-inspired exterior architecture complemented by transitional interiors and an elaborate landscaping plan.

“Lake Forest has a longstanding tradition of beautiful architecture and landscaping,” said Anderson. “We have worked with our project team to design a community that evokes the look and feel of Lake Forest and appeals to today’s lifestyles. We are excited to see our vision coming to life.”

Residences at Kelmscott Park feature large, contemporary floor plans with upscale features and finishes including 9-foot ceilings; hardwood oak flooring; Sub-Zero, Wolf and Asko stainless steel appliances; stone countertops; Kohler fixtures; and natural stone tile in master baths. Condominium floor plans have two to four bedrooms and are priced from the $640,000s. Two customizable single-family home floor plans offer first-floor master suites and attached two-car garages, starting at $1.459 million.

“This groundbreaking is significant not only for Kelmscott Park, but also for the greater North Shore,” said @properties co-founder Michael Golden. “We have been waiting for a community that meets the evolving needs of homeowners and prospective buyers in this area, and Kelmscott Park offers that and more with maintenance-free living, impeccable design and high-end finishes – all in a very desirable location.”

The Kelmscott Park sales center is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12-4 PM or by appointment. For more information about the community, visit or call 847-234-1800.
