Celebrate Computer Science Education Week and Learn to Code with Complimentary Curriculum from Learning.com

(PRWEB) November 10, 2016 -- Building on the overwhelming response to its first-ever Code-a-Thon competition with over 250,000 students registered, Learning.com will continue its pledge to President Obama’s Computer Science for All (CSforAll) initiative by inviting elementary and middle schools across the country to Go Bananas for coding via free access to EasyTech and EasyCode Basic during Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek).
CSEdWeek, taking place from December 5-11, 2016, is an annual program dedicated to inspiring K-12 students to take an interest in computer science. Originally conceived by the Computing in the Core coalition, CSEdWeek is a grassroots campaign supported by 350 partners and 100,000 educators worldwide. CSEdWeek is held in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906).
Schools who take advantage of the free trial during the celebration will have access to ready-to-go lesson plans, a quick start guide and in-depth video tutorials to prepare teachers for the coding curriculum. EasyCode is comprised of game-based coding challenges designed to help students learn to code in CoffeeScript, a powerful coding language that is the foundation for JavaScript, the programming language for HTML.
The Go Bananas movement extends Learning.com’s commitment to CSforAll, the President’s call-to-action for more computer science opportunities in all K-12 schools. CSforAll empowers K-12 students to learn computer science and develop the computational thinking skills necessary to spur the transition from consumer to creator in today’s digital economy.
