Duncan, OK (PRWEB) November 16, 2016
Duncan is full of the holiday spirit in the coming weeks with multiple family friendly activities and events that will bring out the season's spirits in everyone.
On Friday, November 18th, enjoy the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center's "Campfires, Cattle and Cowboys Gathering" 5:00-9:00 PM, which will include entertainment, open mic, and a chance for the artists and authors to sell their wares and sign autographs. Come see the longhorns or listen to the music. From 7:30-8:45 PM, R.J. Vandygriff will make toes tap. While at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, make sure to stop in to Horsin' Around: Out of the Vault, a special in-house curated collection of artwork featuring the horse.
On Saturday, November 19th, plan to shop downtown Main Street Duncan during their annual Holiday Stroll from 5-8 pm. Main Street Duncan merchants will offer special discounts and deals during this snack and shop event. Check out all the new merchandise just in time for the holidays. Food vendors, Christmas carolers and carriage rides will fill the downtown district along with a special appearance from Santa Claus. Find the perfect gift while enjoying the holiday lights, music and shopping.
A few short weeks later, be sure to visit the 905 Christmas in the Park, presented by Edward Jones Investments, the Stephens County Museum, and the Rock Island 905 Railroad Museum, on Dec 1. To be held in Fuqua Park, join the 905 Rock Island Museum and the Stephens County Historical Museum for an evening with hot chocolate, cookies, and music for all. Duncan's Christmas Tree will be lit at 6:30 PM followed by carolers from 6:30 until 7:00 PM at which time the Lighting of the 905 will take place. Santa will see children from 7:00 PM until the last child leaves, so bring the whole family out for a festive time.
Make plans to attend Duncan Little Theatre's performance of "Dashing Through the Snow" during a number of performances in early December. Shows are scheduled for Dec 2-3 and 9-10, with each performance beginning at 7:30 PM. Tickets may be purchased at the Simmons Center at 580-252-2900 or at the box office the evening of each show beginning at 6:30 PM.
Save the date for the annual Duncan Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec 3 at 3:00 PM. As always, the Christmas Parade is free to enter and donations are accepted at the registration booth at 12th and Main. Registration is not required but only those participants pre-registered are eligible to receive an award. Winners will be awarded 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the following categories: Best Theme, Judges Choice, Most Unique, and Antique Car. Bring the whole family, young and old, out to the parade for the always interesting floats, the local marching band, and maybe just maybe, a Santa Claus sighting.
