Tarrytown, NY (PRWEB) November 09, 2016 -- InfoDesk and Dow Jones have announced the second of the three part webinar series: "2020 Vision: The Future of Business Information." This webinar will feature author, speaker and consultant Amy Affelt, who will discuss how librarians and information professionals can leverage their existing knowledge and research skills in order to morph into new roles in the ever-evolving field of data science. "Big Data, Big Opportunity for Info Pros" will be held on Thursday, November 17 at 10:00 a.m. EST.
Register online for the webinar. [Note: this webinar will be recorded. The recording and slides will be made available to all registrants
The webinar will cover a number of key topics, including cutting-edge big data initiatives in the legal and healthcare spaces, as well as the ramifications for librarians working in all settings—from public and academic to corporate and government. Affelt also covers new roles and opportunities for info pros to transfer their knowledge and research skills and to become key players on data science teams.
A recent Harvard Business Review article stated, “the biggest reason that investments in big data fail to pay off, though, is that most companies don’t do a good job with the information they already have.” This webinar examines, among other things, the special skills that information professionals can bring to big data projects.
According to Affelt, “the trick is viewing big data—and the perils and promise that come with it—with a realistic understanding of what it can and cannot do.” The upcoming webinar, she said Affelt said, “will help info pros understand how they can better fit into their organization’s digital strategy and 2020 vision.”
