Single Women Interested in Motherhood Invited to Discussion Group and Community Event
Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) November 10, 2016 -- Two of the country’s leading resources on single motherhood are co-hosting an event for single women who are considering becoming mothers. Single Mothers by Choice® (SMC), which provides online information and community for single mothers, and Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut’s (RMACT) dedicated Single Moms To Be team will facilitate the discussion group. The event, called “Single Women Pursuing Parenthood,” will provide single women considering parenthood access to informational resources, community support, and some of the top experts in the field.
“Single Women Pursuing Parenthood” is a educational gathering for single women who want to discuss and learn about the decisions, concerns and rewards of becoming a single mother by choice. The experts leading the event are Jane Mattes, LCSW and founder of SMC; Dr. Spencer Richlin, lead physician for Single Moms To Be at RMACT; Lisa Schuman, LCSW and Mental Health Program Director at RMACT. A light brunch will be served while these experts facilitate a discussion about single parenthood; topics include choosing a sperm donor, optimizing your reproductive health, creating a support system and navigating questions from family and friends, as well as considering how to share their stories with children, family and friends.
“For most of the women in the room, this is the first step on their journey to become a mom,” says Dr. Spencer Richlin, a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and partner at Single Moms To Be at RMACT. “By giving women the tools to be single mothers, we are empowering women to take control of their family building.”
