Phonoscope LIGHTWAVE, a Houston-headquartered telecommunications ISP, is changing its name to PS LIGHTWAVE to match its new strategic direction targeting growing markets while delivering more bandwidth, capacity and transport capabilities over Houston's largest private fiber optic network.

Rhonda Cumming, PS LIGHTWAVE CEO

We’ve chosen PS LIGHTWAVE because it mirrors our core directive: to offer Pure Speed transport and capacity for Houston and other key markets, while setting the stage for growth in markets outside of the Greater Houston metropolitan area.

Phonoscope LIGHTWAVE, a leading telecommunications service provider headquartered in Houston, Texas, is changing its name to reflect a shift in strategic focus. The Houston telecommunications service provider will now be called PS LIGHTWAVE, INC., effective immediately. PS LIGHTWAVE is expanding its network size and enhancing its design to deliver Pure Speed through increased bandwidth, capacity and transport capabilities.

“We’ve chosen PS LIGHTWAVE because it mirrors our core directive: to offer Pure Speed transport and capacity for Houston and other key markets, while setting the stage for growth in markets outside of the Greater Houston metropolitan area,” said Rhonda Cumming, CEO of PS LIGHTWAVE. “We are future-proofing our network infrastructure due to increasing demand for our products in Houston as well as the growing areas of The Woodlands, Katy and Sugar Land, Texas.”

PS LIGHTWAVE’s facilities-based infrastructure is configured as a switched Layer 2 network. Designed in an Ethernet ring configuration, the private network has fewer hops and diverse routing, resulting in lower latency and less downtime. New network builds include greater fiber density and 100 Gig links between nodes.

“We’ve increased capacity on our primary metro ring and at multiple Points of Presence,” said Robert Jacobs, Network Director/Architect for PS LIGHTWAVE. “On the Ethernet side we are shifting from the standard 10 Gig interconnections to 100 Gig links.”

PS LIGHTWAVE is authorized by the Texas Public Utility Commission to deliver services throughout Texas as a certified Telecommunications Service Provider. PS LIGHTWAVE offers Ethernet Data Circuits, high-speed Internet, Voice over IP (VoIP), and private network solutions over an extensive facilities-based network connecting Houston and seven surrounding counties.

“As a growing company, one of our key focuses moving forward is to align with partners that understand the importance we place on network uptime while providing the platform needed to extend our service capabilities beyond our footprint into new markets. In this way, our customers will have a greater choice in services and providers that meet the same stringent network requirements we offer,” Ms. Cumming said.

PS LIGHTWAVE is a WBENC-certified Woman-Owned Business; a participant in the City of Houston’s “Hire Houston First” program; an approved E-Rate vendor; and a GSA IT Schedule 70 contract holder.

“Our strength as a company is based on our ability to focus on the needs of our customers by providing top-notch customer service and customized solutions,” said David Caddle, COO for PS LIGHTWAVE. “We are looking forward to the new opportunities our increased capabilities will bring.”
