Colonia, NJ (PRWEB) November 14, 2016 -- More than 200 people attended Garba 2016, the festival of Navratri, held at Colonia Middle School in Colonia, NJ on October 21st. The evening featured traditional Indian folk dances, which are done during the auspicious days of Navaratri.

The Navratri is a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga. This celebration represents nine nights during which nine forms of Devi are worshipped. The tenth day, often referred to as “Dussehra” commemorates the victory of good over evil.
“You really feel like you are part of something bigger,” said Csik of his Navratri experience. “It was an inspirational evening and I encourage everyone to participate in a Garba festival in the future as it not only perpetuates Indian traditions, but it also helps bring the community together as a whole.”
