Greenberg Traurig Participates In IBA’s Third Annual Corporate Governance Conference

Conde and Jacqueline Becerra participated as panelists during a Corporate Governance Conference co-presented by the International Bar Association (IBA) Capital Markets Forum and the IBA Corporate and M&A Law Committee on Nov. 4 in Miami.
Supported by the IBA North American Regional Forum and the IBA Latin American Regional Forum, the conference gathered the world’s leading lawyers and business executives to discuss best practices, lessons learned, and recent trends relating to the management and risk assessment of corporate governance matters across different jurisdictions.
Conde, a shareholder in the Corporate and Securities Practice, participated in the panel, titled “Recent trends: controlling shareholders, interested financial advisors and exposure.” The discussion focused on current developments and trends in corporate governance, with a comparative discussion of new rules and best practices around the world, including the United States, Brazil, Russia, the European Union, and Switzerland.
Becerra, a shareholder in the Litigation Practice, spoke on the panel, titled “Lessons learned from the Petrobras case.” The discussion included problems related to one of the largest bribery scandals of recent times, and examined issues and risks facing multinational companies doing business with state-owned companies.
